Monday Evening Volunteer Hours
4 to 7:00 PM
Take a break after work or come enjoy cooler evening hours and help keep the Rose Garden glorious! The Deadheaders are happy to lend tools and knee pads, but please bring your own gloves, hat, water and sunscreen. Any amount of time you can help during the evening work hours is appreciated – 30, 45, 60 min. – whatever works for you. We look forward to seeing you soon!
On Monday, July 25, our Consulting Rosarian, Royal Krieger discussed how to evaluate a rose for the American Rose Society (ARS). Each year the Society puts out a list of commercially newly available roses. And, each year around this time, we get together to evaluate any of these new roses we’ve planted in the Garden. This year we evaluated ‘Pink Brick House’ along the west side of Mothers Walk.
Stay tuned and check the calendar for future class topics and dates.

In Our Garden
The Morcom Rose Garden is a rare 7+ acre green oasis located on Jean Street, one block off Grand Avenue in Oakland, CA. This jewel of a public garden is a 30’s era formal rose garden surrounded by winding paths, graceful stairways, dramatic water features, and enough natural habitat to attract and provide a sanctuary for a variety of birds, including hawks, as well as the neighbors who walk through it regularly. Accredited by the American Rose Society, the Morcom Rose Garden is an asset for all of Oakland.
